R1 - #1 Spycatcher (15-1) has a bad case of seconditis, but I'm hopeful that the long awaited maiden win is a harbinger of future efforts. Remember, this horse was 2nd in both the Del Mar Derby and the Hollywood Derby. Back class at Del Mar is always a bonus.
R2 - #2 Desert Dawn (10-1) is another that has a tendency to finish underneath, but I'm going to take a shot that we get blistering fractions and she has a late run. Place should pay just fine. I would have probably taken the #7 in this race but I won't be backing any Baffert horses today.
R3 - #3 Fluffy Socks (10-1) doesn't need the lead but Irad might try to wire 'em. Does her best work at a mile and making her third start off the bench should be sitting on a strong effort.
R4 - #4 Vahva (4-1) she has a nose for the finish line and owns this distance. It really looks like a three horse race with Society & Ways and Means, but I'll take Irad for the double.
Race 5 - #9 Cogburn (7-5) he's a beast. This is my single.
Race 6 - #5 Sugar Fish (20-1) Obviously this is Thorpedo Anna's race to lose. There's no value on Raging Sea. The Japanese filly hasn't faced much. Perfect race to take a shot.
Race 7 - #4 Luxembourg (12-1) you know a Euro is going to win this - it should be Rebel's Romance but the outside post will hurt. I could do worse than O'Brien/Moore at 12-1.
Race 8 - #1 Forever Young (6-1) This is a wide open race. I have to be honest, I have changed my pick four times. Landing here after going back and rewatching his Kentucky Derby run.
Race 9 - #2 Full Count Felicia (12-1) I really think Kevin Attard will win this race. So it becomes a choice of which mare. I'm a bit hesitant about taking a front runner in this race but I'll go with the "higher price" angle and cross my fingers.
Race 10 - #5 Don Frankie (15-1) Damn, there's a lot of speed in this one! Seems like as good a time as any to back a Japanese horse. Seriously, this race is just like throwing darts.
Race 11 - #6 Notable Speech (7-2) I read an interview with Appleby which made it sound like he was very confident in this horse. I'm guessing the flop in last try may have been the soft surface. Won't have that issue today. If I have any bullets left I'm going to unload on this colt.
Race 12 - #8 Post Time (12-1) He'll get the pace he needs, I hope he's good enough. I love Skippylongstocking, but the post is a killer.
